About Cinque Terre and surrounding area, Tuscany
Welcome to Cinque Terre, a string of centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline. Each of the 5 towns, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, is a unique jewel with its own special character.
Monterosso is known for its beautiful beaches and remarkable wines. Vernazza, arguably the most charming of the five, boasts a natural pier with an amphitheatre shape making it perhaps the most photographed.
Corniglia, the only village not directly adjacent to the sea, is perched on top of a promontory and offers unparalleled views of the surrounding area. Manarola is famous for its sweet Sciacchetrà wine, while Riomaggiore is a bustling town with a beach and wharf.
The Sentiero Azzurro cliffside hiking trail links the villages and offers sweeping sea vistas. The surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
